Translation of video and audio records into Russian

Translation of videos and sound records in Russian is a special kind of translation which is intermediary between traditional interpreting and translation. There are two major technologies of translation of sound records and videos:

1. Written translation of sound records and video. The obligatory phase of this process is taking shorthand notes and producing accurate and correct text from these notes for further translation to the Russian or a foreign language (English, German, French languages). Finally the customer receives the translated text of a sound record or a video record which may be audio synchronized by a speaker (actors), if necessary.

The cost of such translation of sound records or video records includes the cost of audio shorthand notes preparation and the cost of translation which is set under the standard prices of our translation bureau. The cost of professional voicing of sound records or video records in a foreign or Russian language is not included in the service price and is set individually in every case. The prices for audio shorthand notes preparation are as follows: 25 rubles per record minute in the Russian language and 100 rubles per record minute in a foreign language.

The said technology of translation of sound files is often used in translation of films, cartoons, video presentations, foreign audio books in a foreign language.

2. The other translation method is to directly read the translation text in a microphone (audio and video voiceover translation into Russian) which is a type of simultaneous interpreting. Such kind of interpreting is exemplified by "pirate" interpreting of western films which was widespread in our country in early 90s of the last century. Such technology of interpreting of audio and video materials is usually several times cheaper than the previous one, but does not provide high quality and accuracy of translation. The prices for interpreting are equal to our rates for simultaneous interpreting with a 100-200% markup for complexity.

As a rule, such technology of interpreting of audio files is used in cases when these records are not initially designated for a wide audience and there is a need to save on professional synchronization of audio files (interpreting of interviews, seminars, conferences, business meetings, debates, negotiations, roundtables).
